Miranda & Hart's Playful & Nostalgic Couples Photoshoot in Munich
Updated February 2026: Feldherrnhalle (seen in the first images of this gallery) is currently under construction.
As a couples photographer, every single love story I get to document holds a place in my heart, but some are seriously unforgettable. Spending the morning with Miranda and Hart for their romantic couples photoshoot in Munich was one of those moments! We spent the morning giggling across the iconic Odeonsplatz and the Hofgarten all morning long. It was so much fun to photograph Miranda and Hart's giddiness and excitement before their wedding day in the alps with a photoshoot.
So, what is a Pre-Elopement Photoshoot?
For Miranda and Hart, the idea was to create a collection of images that felt natural, heartfelt, and reflective of their decision to elope in Europe, and to have a few photos to share with their families in Canada, since they were eloping in the Bavarian Alps!
A pre-elopement photoshoot is an intimate session designed to document the journey leading up to your elopement. Unlike traditional engagement shoots, these sessions are designed to have beautiful, timeless imagery in your wedding clothes in a beautiful location.
If you find yourself taking a trip across the world before your wedding or elopement, a pre-elopement/wedding photoshoot is the way to go. It gives you the the perfect opportunity to capture the beauty of the destination while getting dolled up in your wedding clothes one more time.
Locations: Why we chose Odeonsplatz and Hofgarten in Munich
When Miranda and Hart told me they wanted their photos to feel timeless and elegant, showcasing the architecture Munich had to offer, I knew Odeonsplatz and Hofgarten would be the perfect location. They offered everything we needed: historic architecture, natural beauty, and a lil bit of Bavarian magic!
Odeonsplatz
We started at Odeonsplatz, a gorgeous plaza that screams "wow, we're definitely in Europe now!"
Hofgarten
From Odeonsplatz, we wandered across the street to the Hofgarten, a gorgeous park with a 400 year old gazebo in the center of the park. This garden offered a softer, more intimate setting.
Exploring More of Munich
If you're heading to Munich yourself, be sure to immerse yourself in its rich history and vibrant culture. Don't forget to visit:
- Marienplatz: In central Munich, famous for it's glockenspiel and the stunning Neues Rathaus.
- Nymphenburg Palace: A fairy-tale palace dating back to 1664. In addition to the palace museum, it also has stunning gardens open to the public!
- The English Gardens: A massive park perfect for an afternoon walk, picnic, or to see river surfing!
- Traditional Bavarian Cuisine: Did you really visit Germany if you didn't try its local cuisine? You can't leave without trying pretzels, schnitzel, and a glass of cold beer at a local beer garden.
